Wedding Dress Shopping, Without the Overwhelm
A LoversLand guide for modern brides
Recently Engaged?
Wedding dress shopping should feel exciting — not intimidating. Whether you’re newly engaged or already deep in your bridal Pinterest era, we’re here to remind you that finding your dress doesn’t have to be chaotic.
At LoversLand, we believe in slow fashion, thoughtful timelines, and gowns that are made with intention — not pressure. Here’s everything you need to know before you step into The Haven.
When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
Your bridal era officially begins 10–12 months before your wedding day.
Here’s what that actually looks like:
- Month 1: Trying on, exploring silhouettes, falling a little bit in love.
- Months 2–8: Your gown is made just for you by your chosen designer.
- Last 2 months: Alterations and tailoring magic
Giving yourself this timeline means you can enjoy the process — not rush it.
What does “made-to-order” really mean?
It means your dress doesn’t exist... yet. Once you place your order, your designer begins creating your gown from scratch. It’s ordered to the closest numerical size based on your measurements, then perfected through alterations.
It’s not off the rack.
It’s becoming yours.
Which designers does LoversLand carry?
Our collection is intentionally curated with designers from around the world who share our love for effortless, romantic design:
- Prea James — Australia
- Former Girlfriend — Toronto
- Cortana — Spain
- Alexandra Grecco — New York
- Bon Bridé — United Kingdom
Just to name a few, each one is chosen because they make brides feel like themselves — just elevated.
What if my wedding is in less than 6 months?
Take a breath — it’s still possible.
We carry a beautiful selection of ready-to-wear gowns and sample dresses that can be purchased off the rack. Many of our designers are also able to accommodate rush orders, depending on availability and timing (a rush fee may apply).
Your dress is closer than you think.
Do you do alterations in-house?
We don’t — but we’ve got you.
We work closely with some of the most talented tailors in the city and are always happy to provide recommendations. Alterations usually take 3–4 appointments over 1–2 months, so once you have an estimated arrival date for your dress, we suggest booking your fittings right away.
Will I cry when I find my dress?
Maybe. Maybe not. Both are perfect.
Media makes it look like tears and fireworks every time, but for many brides it’s a quieter feeling — a calm, grounded knowing. However your “yes” shows up, it’s the right one.
